September plans don't have to start with a big weekend or a house full of people. Sometimes you just want a day at the lake with a few friends, a packed cooler, and no reason to hurry through lunch.
If that's the kind of day you have in mind, keep the plan simple. Start with your rental time and build around what your group will actually enjoy.
Choose one main stop
Maybe it's lunch somewhere on the water. Maybe it's finding a place to swim and staying awhile. Pick the thing everyone is looking forward to and leave the rest flexible.
If a restaurant is part of the plan, check its current hours and docking arrangements directly before heading out. September schedules can differ from what you remember earlier in the summer, and you don't want your whole day depending on an unconfirmed stop.
Work backward from your return time
Big Thunder Boat Rentals has no mileage restriction, but that doesn't mean every destination makes sense for every rental. Distance, conditions, fuel use, and time at your stops all matter.
Ask the crew about your intended route before leaving. Plan a comfortable margin for getting back rather than making the return trip a race. Late returns are charged at $5 per minute.
Get the practical details out of the way
Check whether you're picking up at Ozark Yacht Club at the 1 MM or GlenCove Marine at the 3 MM. Bring your driver's license, required boating credentials, and a major credit card for the $500 security hold.
Renters must be at least 21. Our boats have a rental limit of 12 people total, including children, and a maximum combined person weight of 2,200 pounds. Confirm the headcount before you invite a few more friends.
Pack for a day outside
Bring towels, sunscreen, water, and a layer for changes in the weather. Check the forecast close to your reservation and talk with the rental team if conditions are a concern. Don't assume a September date means quiet water or perfect temperatures.
Leave pets and fishing gear at home; neither pets nor fishing are permitted on our rental boats. Decide how you want to handle fuel, too: pay to refill the tank on return or purchase the fuel inclusion package.
